January Author of The Month for Home School ~ Harry Allard

Harry Allard was born in Evanston, Illinois on January 27,  1928  and grew up in California, New York and Chicago. He graduated from

Northwestern University in 1943, entered the military and lived in Korea.

After living in Paris for many years, he received a PhD in French from Yale University and taught French in college for many years.

In Boston he met James Marshall who inspired his first book, The Stupid’s Step Out, and went on to write many other books for children.
